2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the inlet radiator hose on 4.8, 5.3, and 6.0L engines on 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500?
A: A first step when replacing an inlet Radiator Hose for 4.8, 5.3, and 6.0l engines should involve draining the cooling system fluid. Detach the clamps at the Throttle Body and mass airflow/intake air temperature sensor locations on the air cleaner outlet duct. The first step is to extract the outlet hose clip then disengage both the air cleaner outlet duct from the radiator inlet hose. In case of need remove the engine sight shield. Removal of the radiator vent inlet hose from its clips with the radiator allows repositioning the inlet hose clamp on the radiator surface. Detach the hose clip on the Fan Shroud inlet before extracting the Radiator Hose and return this hose to the Water Pump alongside repositioning its clamp. The installation process begins with fitting the inlet hose onto the Water Pump while placing the inlet hose clamp at its position. Position the inlet hose clamp at the radiator after installing it to the radiator. The inlet hose clip needs to be attached to the Fan Shroud while the radiator vent inlet hose should be installed at the radiator inlet hose clips. Reinstallation of the engine sight shield should happen if needed. Check that the arrow on the Throttle Body end of the duct matches the Throttle Body stud before final installation of the air cleaner outlet duct. You will entonces install the radiator inlet hose clip to the outlet duct and then proceed to tighten the air cleaner outlet duct clamps at the Throttle Body and maf/iat sensor locations until the clamp screws achieve 7 nm (62 inch lbs.) torque. Finally, fill the cooling system.
