2004 Chevrolet SSR Throttle Body Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the throttle body assembly on 2004 Chevrolet SSR?
A: In replacement of Throttle Body assembly, you first want to be careful with electronic throttle control parts as the chances of tampering increases thus can prevent damage, avoid use of small hand tools to aid in opening throttle plate as the part may get damaged internally due to a wedge. Start by draining the cooling system partially in order to remove the hose at the Throttle Body, then remove the air cleaner outlet duct and engine sight shield. Disconnect the throttle actuator motor electrical connector, rotate the coolant air bleed hose clamp to reposition, and remove the hose from the Throttle Body. Next, unbolt the nuts of the Throttle Body and extract the Throttle Body with the gasket, making sure that you will not be using the gasket and will discard it. For installation, new Throttle Body Gasket, install Throttle Body, and then tighten the nuts to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Replace the clamp and the coolant air bleed hose onto the throttle actuator motor harness connector and seal as well as the throttle actuator motor harness to ensure they are properly in place and are not damaged. Add reservoir and fill with the cooling system, reinstall the engine sight shield, throttle actuator motor electrical connector. Then use a scan tool and test throttle-opening and throttle-closing range repeatability by operating the accelerator.pedal and making sure it operates free through closed throttle and wide open throttle (WOT). Make sure that the vehicle's engine is not in reduced engine power mode, the ignition switch is on, and the engine switch off before starting up the engine and checking for coolant leaks.
