  Q: How to replace the throttle body assembly on Chevrolet SSR?

  A: The electronic throttle control elements need gentle handling before replacement because dropping or immersing them in cleaning fluids can cause damage. First remove both the air cleaner outlet duct and engine sight shield from the vehicle. First disconnect the throttle actuator motor electrical connector while you remove the Throttle Body nuts (507) and Throttle Body bolts (538). Remove the Throttle Body (508) combined with its accompanying gasket (509) yet avoid gasket reuse since this part must be discarded. Insert a new Throttle Body Gasket (509) then install the Throttle Body (508). Fastener notice in hand, torque the Throttle Body nuts (507) to 10 n.m (89 lb in) while torque the Throttle Body bolts (538) to the same value. Secure the throttle actuator motor electrical connector after verifying proper installation of both the connector and its seal and checking for no damage. Replace then install the engine sight shield together with the air cleaner outlet duct. A scan tool should help verify throttle performance by opening and closing the throttle while testing both closed-throttle positions and wide open throttle conditions. Check that the vehicle exists out of reduced engine power mode and that the ignition is on and the engine is off before starting the engine and inspecting for coolant leaks.
