Begin by unscrewing both cam cover and spark plugs before taking off the sprocket bolts from exhaust and intake. Because the timing chain components need to stay undisturbed install the Camshaft sprocket holding tool (J 44222) onto the Cylinder Head followed by setting two bolts in each Camshaft sprocket. Separate the sprocket units with their timing chains from the camshafts and unscrew the Camshaft cap bolts to prepare the fittings for installation later. Take off the Camshaft caps and camshafts before applying air pressure through a proper adapter at the cylinder. Begin by fastening the exhaust bolt to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) with a single turn. Then make a final additional 135° move with the torque wrench (J 36660-A).
