Engine operations start by removing the Flywheel from the engine with caution to safeguard both the crankshaft and seal bore. Use an appropriate tool to carefully pry the crankshaft rear oil seal from its position. Engine oil must be applied to the inside and outside surfaces of the new crankshaft rear oil seal before installation begins. Screw the j 34686 rear main seal installer (J 34686) with the mandrel until the seal rests directly against the collar. Adjust the dowel pin of the j 34686 to match the dowel pin in the crankshaft before you either hand-tighten or screw the attaching screws to 5 nm (45 inch lbs.). Pull the t-handle on the j 34686 device while using it to push the seal through the bore until the collar firmly touches the case at the proper seating angle. Turn the t-handle until you reach its stopping point before removing the attaching screws. Finally, reinstall the engine Flywheel.
