2005 Buick LeSabre Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front air bag sensor on 2005 Buick LeSabre?
A: Beginning the inflatable restraint front end sensor replacement process requires turning off the SIR system. Secure attachment of the sensor is crucial before applying power to prevent both deployment and injuries. Complete avoidance of sensor jostling or striking is essential during sensor installation. First dismantle the front air deflector and separate the connector position assurance (CPA) from the front end sensor wiring harness connector and subsequently remove the wiring harness connector from the front end sensor. Apparently it's possible to access the lower tie bar to unfasten the front end sensor mounting fastener that utilizes left-handed thread orientation. Give the front end sensor a lift upward and advance it backward out of the key hole slot . First clean the mounting area and position the sensor's arrow to point forward before placing the front end sensor directly into the key hole slot on the lower tie bar. Tighten the mounting fastener to 9 N.m (80 lb in). Reattach the front end sensor harness wiring connector to the front end sensor by putting the connector position assurance (CPA) in place before moving forward. To finish up the process reinstall the front air deflector while enabling the SIR system.
