2005 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Knock Sensor (KS) 2 on 2005 Buick Park Avenue?
A: First ensure the Ignition Switch is off then raise the vehicle and begin replacement of the Knock Sensor (KS) 2. First drain the cooling system by removing splash shield bolts then the bolts securing the splash shield. The two bolts securing the Knock Sensor heat shield below the freeze plug need removal. The Knock Sensor requires separation from its wiring harness connector before extraction from the engine block. The Knock Sensor requires no thread sealant because its pre-coated surface preserves its detonation detection abilities. Step by step instructions: place the Knock Sensor into the block and secure it with 19 n.m of torque (14 lb ft of torque). After installing the Knock Sensor heat shield secure its connecting bolts to specifications at 60 n.m (44 lb ft) while connecting the electrical Knock Sensor connector. To complete the process replace the splash shield and lower the vehicle before you fill the cooling system.
