Begin Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) replacement by raising the vehicle then providing support. Unplug the electrical connector near the vehicle speed sensor before removing its retaining bolt and sensor. Check the O-ring for damage before replacing it if necessary. Position the vehicle speed sensor and its retaining bolt into place before tightening the bolt to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.). Finish by attaching the electrical connector to the sensor before you lower the vehicle.
