2005 Buick Rainier Air Bag Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Air Bag Sensor for the side impact on 2005 Buick Rainier?
A: To replace the inflatable restraint side impact, you need to disable the SIR system first. It is imperative not to hit or jolt the inflatable restraint side impact sensor (SIS) and to attach it firmly before power to prevent SIR deployment or personal harm. Remove the front door trim panel and the rear half of the water deflector from the door exposing the side impact sensor. I have to unscrew the screws that hold the side impact sensor to the door and take off the impact sensor electrical connector from the side impact sensor. After separating the side impact sensor in the door, clean all mounting surface and get rid of dirt, grease, and impurities. Position the side impact sensor horizontally to the door and plug the electrical connector into the side impact sensor. Mount the screws to hold the side impact sensor to the door securely to a torque of 8 N.m (71 lb in). Full seat the water deflector to the door, and reinstall the door trim panel, then enable the SIR system.
