2005 Buick Rainier Evaporator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the auxiliary evaporator core on 2005 Buick Rainier?
A: The first step for replacing an auxiliary Evaporator core requires hvac module removal followed by Heater Core-auxiliary extraction. Start by removing inverted torx studs from the Evaporator block-auxiliary then extracting the backing plate attached to the Evaporator core. The technician should proceed by removing the blower motor control processor-auxiliary and following it up with the screws and hvac module-auxiliary case sump extraction. Extract the Evaporator core from the hvac module-auxiliary and then remove the foam insulator from its vicinity carefully. The correct amount of refrigerant oil should be added to the new Evaporator core-auxiliary before installing the foam insulator onto the core-auxiliary. The thermal expansion valve-auxiliary must be moved to the replacement Evaporator core-auxiliary before installing it within the rear hvac module-auxiliary. Fasten and tighten screws on the hvac module-auxiliary case sump to 2 n.m (18 lb in). The installation process begins with the blower motor control processor-auxiliary then adds the backing plate to the Evaporator core-auxiliary. The evaporation block-auxiliary along with its inverted torx studs needs to be installed while tightening these fasteners to 2 n.m (18 lb in). The last step involves the Heater Core-auxiliary installation followed by the hvac module assembly replacement then using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) to test the component fittings for leaks.
