- Q: How to service and repair the rear Crossmember Bushing on 2005 Buick Rendezvous?A: Start the replacement procedure of the rear cross-member bushing by lifting the vehicle through a wheel lift hoist. A few sections of vehicle weight need support at jacking points using utility stands. First remove the rear shock absorbers followed by disconnecting the right-hand brake cable from its position on the left guide loop. Before servicing any all-wheel drive vehicle disconnect the electrical connector from the rear differential clutch pump check valve. Both abs wiring harnesses must be taken from the frame rails and the brake hose mounting bolts from the body brackets. After disconnecting the automatic level control (ALC) height sensor harness connector users should lower the rear wheel lift hoist to partially unload the suspension system. Lower and assist in rotating the Rear Crossmember behind so its front mount reaches 114 mm (4 1/2 inch) while fitting the bushing removal/installation tool. The frame mount installer/receiver (J45677) should be used for Rear Crossmember frame mount removal. During new frame mount installation ensure the voids face in the direction of the vehicle's front and using j45677 as the installation tool for proper orientation. The Rear Crossmember should be placed under guidance from a helper who controls the hoist lift. Secure the rear suspension crossmember mounting bolts with tension at 130 nm (96 ft. Lbs.). The alc height sensor harness connector needs to reconnect for all wiring harnesses must be placed on the frame rails followed by connecting the electrical connector to the rear differential clutch pump check valve for associated vehicles with all-wheel drive. Both the right-hand park brake cable and brake hose mounting bolts must be installed into their respective positions at the left guide loop and body brackets. The last steps include reinstalling rear shock absorbers followed by taking out the utility stands before lowering the vehicle to check the rear suspension toe alignment with adjustments as needed.
