How to replace the left exhaust manifold (LP1, LY7) on 2005 Cadillac CTS?

The replacement process for the left Exhaust Manifold (LP1, LY7) starts with removal of the Exhaust Manifold heat shield followed by the oil level indicator. First disconnect the Exhaust Manifold bolts followed by the catalytic converter nuts then separate the Exhaust Manifold before discarding the Exhaust Manifold Gasket due to non-reusable design. A thorough examination of the Exhaust Manifold should follow cleaning operations before continuing with assembly. The new catalytic converter requires a seal/heat shield installation where you should inspect the sealing surface for damage before replacement. The new Exhaust Manifold Gasket must be placed on the Exhaust Manifold before installation of the Exhaust Manifold with the gasket into position between the catalytic converter and the Cylinder Head. Fasten the Exhaust Manifold bolts at 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.) while installing the catalytic converter nuts using 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). Reinstall the Exhaust Manifold heat shield together with the oil level indicator.
