  A: The first step for replacing the floor shift control boot requires you to engage the parking brake. Pry up gently on the rear of the shift control boot after which you should lift it over the Shift Knob. The first step is to remove the Shift Knob retaining screw and lift the shift control boot together with the Shift Knob assembly from the shift lever. The shift control boot and knob assembly should be installed onto the shift lever followed by securing with the Shift Knob retaining screw. Push the front tabs of the shift control boot at the console trim plate opening and push the rear of the boot into its opening. Finish the installation by slight tugging to confirm that the shift control boot stays stable on the console trim plate opening.
