2005 Cadillac DeVille Coil Springs Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace Coil Springs with RPO FE7 on 2005 Cadillac DeVille?
A: Vehicle service starts by supporting the vehicle at height while replacing coil spring with rpo fe7. Put a suitable jack under the Control Arm while removing wheels and tires from the vehicle body. To begin you must disconnect the electronic level control air tube from the shock then unscrew the two bolts that fix the shock to the Control Arm along with the hex nut. Attach steering linkage puller (J 24319-B) before putting coil spring compressor (J 44255) into place. The Control Arm should be lowered slowly until it touches the support assembly then the coil spring needs removal. Insert the new coil spring into the coil spring compressor (J 44255) while making sure the insulator correctly positions within the Control Arm. Lift the lower Control Arm while installing the two shock bolts until you reach a torque setting of 36 nm (27 ft. Lbs.). Connect and torque the adjustment link at 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.) while rotating it another 200 degrees. Insert the electronic level control air tube into the shock while you replace tires and wheels followed by wheel nut tightening at 125 nm (80 ft. Lbs.). After lowering the vehicle check the toe for alignment then apply corrections when needed.
