- Q: How to replace the wiper arm on 2005 Cadillac SRX?A: Begin by setting your wipers to park position and then opening the hood assembly before starting work. Adjust the driver wiper under the orange line you see on the tip of the wiper at the center lower windshield. Also place the passenger side wiper along the orange dot on the tip of the Wiper Blade on the right lower side of the windshield. Uncover (2,5) the Wiper Arm nuts (3,6) after that use a tool to remove them from the Wiper Arm drive spindle. Before taking off the left Wiper Arm disconnect the hood liftgate assist rods from their stud connections but push only at the rod end to prevent harm. Raise the hood until its end points toward the air inlet before providing support to the assembly. When removing the Wiper Arm does not work easily use the j 39822 Wiper Arm puller tool to take the Wiper Arm apart from the drive spindle. Wipe the drive spindle threads using a fine brush and take off the Wiper Blade from its mount. To set up the wiper blades fit one onto the wiper assembly then adjust the passenger Wiper Arm until the blade points at the orange dot and adjust the driver Wiper Arm until the blade points at the orange line. Fasten the Wiper Arm onto the Wiper Arm drive spindle using the nut (3,6) then tighten it to 35 n.m (26 lb ft). Keep the Wiper Arm in position while performing the installation. Position the hood assist rods onto their installed studs and lower the hood. Add the Wiper Arm covers and test operation; make sure the driver-side wiper remains within its wiping path.
