For removing the Wiper Arm, initially position the wipers in park place and also open the hood assembly. Set the driver side wiper against the orange line at the tip of the wiper face on the center lower windshield, and the passenger side wiper against the orange dot at the tip of the wiper surface on the right lower windshield. Take off the covers (2, 5) from the Wiper Arm nuts (3, 6), and then take off the nuts (3, 6) from the Wiper Arm drive spindle. Use pressure only when removing or attaching the liftgate/hood assist rod, to prevent damaging the liftgate/hood assist rod. Wiper Blade, clean the drive spindle knurls with a fine wire brush, and de-mount the Wiper Blade off the Wiper Arm. To install, attach the blade to the arm of the wiper, use the passenger side to align the Wiper Blade tip with the orange dot, and the driver side with the orange line. Mount the Wiper Arm on the Wiper Arm drive spindle while locking it in place and tighten nuts (3, 6) to 35 n.m (26 lb ft). Fasten the upper hood assist rods to the assist rod ball studs, install the Wiper Arm nut covers, latch the hood assembly, and operate the wipers to test correct operation while ensuring the driver side wiper does not extend beyond the wiping location.
