  • Q: How to replace the front coolant reservoir on 2005 Cadillac XLR?
A: The replacement of a Coolant Reservoir requires engine cooling so engineers can evade burns caused by hot fluid and steam pressure release through the radiator or Coolant Reservoir caps. Start by removing fluid from the cooling system. The inlet hose connecting to the Coolant Reservoir should be removed after releasing tension on the clamp with hose clamp pliers. The hose clamp pliers (J 38185) will unscrew the Coolant Reservoir outlet hose clamp before separate is removed from the Coolant Reservoir. Start by removing the Coolant Reservoir upper stud protective cap then uninstall the upper nut before you loosen the side nut. First disconnect the electrical connection of the Coolant Level Sensor after which remove the Coolant Reservoir. After installing the Coolant Reservoir place clean coolant inside both hose diameters before installation. After installing the upper Coolant Reservoir nut, perform a 8 nm (71 inch lbs.) tightening procedure on all nuts before putting back the protective cap on the upper stud. Start by linking the electrical wires for the coolant sensor then add the Coolant Reservoir outlet hose. Finally, tighten the hose clamp with moderate force. Before filling the cooling system you should connect the Coolant Reservoir inlet hose then pull tension on the inlet hose clamp.
