How to replace the intermediate exhaust pipe on 2005 Cadillac XLR?

Before starting intermediate pipe replacement begin by elevating and supporting the vehicle before placing adjustable jack stands beneath its front and rear sections. Separate the left and right tailpipe/muffler assemblies from the intermediate pipe by first loosening exhaust muffler band clamps (2,5). After you uninstall the lower bolts from Exhaust Pipe hangers and nuts from the exhaust manifold, lower the jack stands to remove the intermediate pipe. When reinstalling the initial intermediate pipe you should replace its Tail Pipe/muffler band clips by first noting their positions then removing the old clips before placing new ones at their marked locations. Place the intermediate pipe on the jack stands before using the stands to lift the pipe to its correct position. Secure all temporary clamp bolts and exhaust clamp bolts with a slight tension before removing the adjustable jack stands. The technician should fasten the exhaust muffler clamps (2,5) to 44 nm (32 ft. Lbs.) while the exhaust manifold nuts require 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.) torque and the Exhaust Pipe hanger lower bolts require 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). Finally, lower the vehicle.
