• Q: How to replace the washer reservoir on 2005 Cadillac XLR?

  A: To replace the washer solvent container start by opening the hood and taking out the plastic retainer from the upper filler tube of the washer solvent container on the left next to the master cylinder. Make sure the vehicle rests on stands safely and that the hoist needs at least 6 inches of space between it and the left front fender to move toward the engine bay. Take out the three fasteners from both the left front wheel and splash shield wheelhouse while keeping track of the fender placement for precise reinstallation. Separate the Washer Pump hose output and drain the liquid into a storage container. Unscrew and remove the headlamp washer hose by sliding the lock and extracting it. Break the electrical connections from both washer pumps and the level sensor before taking out the washer solvent container mounting bolts (1, 2) and its container unit while keeping the fender aside. Install the replacement washer components into the new container then put it into position and fasten the mounting bolts to 11 n.m (97 lb in) torque values. Plug the Washer Pump and level sensor electrical connectors back into place before attaching the Washer Pump outlet and headlamp washer outlet tubes making sure the slide-lock hose clamp covers its entire surface. Reposition the fender and attach first the three fasteners of the lower wheelhouse splash shield on the left side front before installing the left front wheel. Fill the washer solvent container using a new plastic retainer and lower the vehicle. After completing steps above you need to check both washer pumps and related lights.
