2005 Chevrolet Blazer Body Control Module Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Body Control Module (BCM) on 2005 Chevrolet Blazer?
A: The first step to replace the Body Control Module (BCM) requires removing both the left instrument panel (I/P) sound insulator and the lower i/p sound insulator from the vehicle. Always start with the off position of the Ignition Switch before working on bcm connectors. Disconnect the brown bcm connector first and reconnect it last because the bcm sets dtcs when the switch is off. The bcm removal requires bending back both snap retainers slightly before pulling the bcm directly from its bracket toward you at an angle. When positioning the bcm under the wide hook retainer at an angle with the label facing away, apply force on the left module side to move it toward the bracket base before snapping on both snap retainers to secure the module correctly. The bcm electrical connection process begins with the brown connector as the last connection step followed by reattachment of lower and left i/p sound insulators. Through the techline terminal while using a scan tool, technicians should program proper calibrations into the bcm then conduct bcm programming and dtc clearance.
