• Q: How to replace the intake manifold on 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier?

  A: To remove Intake Manifold, start by removing air inlet duct and resonator then remove iac (Idle Air Control) electrical conn, tps (Throttle Pos sensor)electrical conn, map (Manifold Absolute Press) sensor elec conn, evap evap emission control hose, pcv pcv hose, purge solenoid tube, brake booster hose. Next, the oil level indicator tube bolt ought to be pulled out, the accelerator & cruise control cables disconnected, and the Throttle Body & Fuel Rail taken out. Carefully pull out the Knock Sensor connector from the Intake Manifold, remove the nuts and bolts holding it to the manifold, and then pull out the Intake Manifold. If there is a need, take out the Intake Manifold Gasket that could be applied again if not broken. For the installation, if the gasket was taken off, install it first and then insert the Intake Manifold into its place. Replace the Intake Manifold nuts and bolts with a tight torque of 10 nm (89 inch lbs) and then open the Knock Sensor connector. Reinstall the Fuel Rail and Throttle Body and reconnect the iac, tps, and MAP Sensor electrical connectors, evap hose, pcv hose, purge solenoid tube, and brake booster hose. Last, install the oil level indicator tube bolt and connect back the accelerator and cruise control cables before re-installing the air inlet duct and resonator.
