2005 Chevrolet Cavalier Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the cruise control module on 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier?
A: Before changing the Cruise Control Module, first disconnect the negative Battery Cable. Disengage the electrical connection from Cruise Control Module, and open the throttle body cam in a bit extent. Then you unhook the cruise control cable from the throttle body cam lever and remove it from both the throttle body chain and retainer clip engaged with this engine. Slack the cruise control cable to remove it from the cruise control assembly, turn the cruise control cable 1/4 turn counterclockwise, and pull the cable slug out of the ribbon buckle. Take out the bolts from the Cruise Control Module and take out the bolt and nut from the Cruise Control Module mounting before removing the module from the engine. In terms of installation, the Cruise Control Module should be placed to the mounting bracket and the bolts screwed at a tightness of 10 n.m (89 lb in). Then, put the module back into place into the engine compartment and install the bolt and nut to the mounting bracket, tightening to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Fasten the cruise control cable slug on the ribbon buckle (they should not be twisted), and press the cable into the module until the seal makes contact. Insert the narrow cable tab into the narrow slot and wide tab into the wide slot and attach the cable to the module by spinning it clockwise with adjuster tab facing the front of the car. Lastly, hook the electrical connector onto the Cruise Control Module, install cruise control cable onto the throttle body bracket until it is properly seated, pry open slightly the throttle body cam, link the cruise control cable chain to the throttle body cam lever, and reconnect the negative scanic battery.
