You must begin by disabling the sir system before proceeding to remove the Steering Wheel along with the steering column trim covers. The first step involves removing wire harness straps from the wire harness assembly while disconnecting the multifunction switch/sir coil assembly connector from the column base. Access the multifunction switch/sir coil assembly lead from the wire harness assembly then remove its 3 pan head tapping screws for replacement. Move the multifunction switch/sir coil assembly off the steering column while discarding it for a replacement. For installation, ensure the new multifunction switch/sir coil assembly is precentered with the centering tab attached; keep the centering tab on throughout installation because removing it could cause misalignment. Reposition the sir coil at the center before fitting it onto the steering column when keeping the original parts. The assembly requires three 3 pan head tapping screws for securement which need to be tightened to 3 nm (30 inch lbs.). Guide the wire harness assembly through the steering column then join its connector at the base before reinstalling the harness straps. Reposition the centering tab before you install steering column trim covers followed by fitting the Steering Wheel. Finally, enable the sir system.
