2005 Chevrolet Corvette Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Hose in a compressor assembly on 2005 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Recovery of the a/c system refrigerant must be the first step before performing compressor hose assembly replacement. The a/c condenser fitting requires removal of its radiator support and A/C Compressor hose assembly bolt while properly documenting the hose assembly orientation and path. Seal the open a/c components before you disconnect the hose assembly from the a/c condenser fitting where you will also remove the sealing washer. Your first step should be covering the a/c condenser fitting with tape or a cap while you disconnect the a/c tube connector from both the evaporator outlet tube and hose assembly. Finally, detach the evaporator outlet tube from its position on the hose assembly following its coverage with tape or a cap. The first step requires vehicle elevation for tire and wheel removal on the right front side. Next, uninstall the retaining bolt securing the A/C Compressor hose assembly. The hose assembly must be disconnected from the A/C Compressor before discarding the sealing washers while capping off or taping the A/C Compressor unit. Take the hose assembly away from the vehicle. Place the new hose assembly into the vehicle and free the A/C Compressor from its cap or tape then apply new sealing washers to the compressor assembly ends. Secure the hose assembly to the A/C Compressor with the retaining bolt while tightening it to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Put on the right front tire along with the wheel assembly then lower the vehicle before taking off the tape or cap from the evaporator outlet tube. Fit new o-rings onto the evaporator outlet tube before applying the A/C Compressor hose with a tube connector installation. Reinstall the sealing washer on the compressor hose assembly before attaching it to the a/c condenser fitting by tightener the bolt to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). When complete you must reinstall the radiator support then recharge the air conditioning system followed by using halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) to check for leaks on fittings.
