2005 Chevrolet Corvette Clutch Master Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Clutch Master Cylinder on 2005 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Start by disconnecting the negative battery cable as the first step for Clutch Master Cylinder replacement. Remove the left instrument panel (I/P) lower insulator panel before removing the Clutch Master Cylinder rod retainer and rod from the clutch pedal. Start by deleting the windshield washer solvent container while lifting the vehicle at a comfortable height. Distinct the clutch actuator cylinder hose from its retaining clip at the engine's back. Disengage the clutch actuator hose by pushing the white circular release ring on the actuator hose with the hydraulic clutch line separator (J 36221) then pulling the master cylinder hose gently to break the connection without damaging either the ends of the coupling. Put the vehicle at the lower position while maintaining hoist support before removing the Clutch Master Cylinder reservoir push-in fasteners. To remove the Clutch Master Cylinder and reservoir from the vehicle first rotate it 45 degrees counterclockwise from the dash panel before taking them out. To install this system position the Clutch Master Cylinder and reservoir with the master cylinder tilted at 45 degrees before docking it into the dash panel by rotating clockwise to tighten it correctly. The installation process includes mounting the Clutch Master Cylinder reservoir fasteners through push-in clamps and reinstalling the windshield washer solvent container. After raising the vehicle connect the clutch actuator cylinder hose to the Clutch Master Cylinder hose while making sure quick connect fittings establish secure connections. Begin by checking hydraulic hoses for any bends or twists before reattaching the clutch actuator cylinder hose to its hose retaining clip at the engine's rear. Lower the vehicle before putting the Clutch Master Cylinder rod onto the clutch pedal and fastening it with the rod retainer. Seal the left i/p lower insulator panel in place before connecting the negative battery cable using a torque tool set to 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.). Complete programming of transmitters while conducting a hydraulic clutch system bleed.
