2005 Chevrolet Equinox A/C Hose Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Hose Assembly on 2005 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: The first step to replace the compressor hose assembly requires using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) for refrigerant recovery. The replacement process begins with left headlamp removal then removing battery box retainer nut from compressor hose followed by the evaporator outlet hose nut at its outlet. The evaporator outlet hose needs to be disconnected from the compressor hose before adding protection through a cap to prevent contamination. The compressor hose attachment from the condenser should be removed first before you take the compressor hose itself. Install a protective cap on both components during this process. After lifting the car, disconnect the pressure transducer electrical connector. Screw off the bolt holding the compressor hose to the compressor while pulling away the hose together with its sealing washer for later disposal. Start by taking away the protective cap from the compressor end of the compressor hose before placing fresh seal washers. Secure the compressor hose within the vehicle by attaching it to the compressor before tightening its bolt to 27 n.m (20 lb ft). Connect the electrical connector to the pressure transducer then lower the vehicle. After that install a new sealing washer to the evaporator outlet hose. Position the evaporator outlet hose properly with the compressor hose before tightening the nut to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). The compressor hose needs a fresh sealing washer before connecting it to the condenser while securing it with a nut that reaches 16 n.m torque (12 lb ft force). You must install the compressor hose retainer nut to the battery box while tightening it to 8 n.m (71 lb in) before putting back the left headlamp and testing for leaks with a halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
