2006 Chevrolet Equinox A/C Hose Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Hose liquid line on 2006 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: The first step to replace the liquid line requires using the halogen leak detector model j 39400-a for refrigerant recovery. The procedure starts by taking away the left headlamp together with surge tank and washer bottle and battery and any battery box installing bolts. Start the liquid line replacement by taking off the negative battery wheelhouse cable then unfasten the strut tower liquid line retaining nut. First disconnect the liquid line's harness and vent hose retainers and then remove the evaporator outlet hose while taking off the liquid line retainer plate nut which connects to the txv. The procedure starts by removing first the evaporator outlet hose and then the liquid line from the txv followed by the liquid line nut from the condenser and ending with the liquid line removal. Place the battery box inboard for routing while you disconnect the liquid line bolt which attaches the line to the vehicle body. Then direct the liquid line above the battery box and ground lug. Raise the back section of the liquid line upward until it leaves the vehicle before disposing of the sealing washer. The installation of protective caps must be done on the condenser as well as the evaporator outlet hose and the txv to stop contamination. Install the negative battery cable nut to the wheelhouse by screwing it at 12 n.m (106 lb in). After removing protective caps you must install an updated sealing washer to the liquid line and position the condenser end before installing it to the condenser unit while tightening the liquid line nut to 22 n.m (16 lb ft) with large pliers pressure. Fasten the liquid line to its body position through the bolt while torquing it to reach 9 n.m (80 lb in). Uncover the protective caps from the txv and liquid line and evaporator outlet hose before applying new seal washers to the liquid line and evaporator outlet hose. Tighten the retainer plate nut which secures the liquid line to the txv to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). The battery box installation requires four bolts to be positioned inside the compartment while tightening them to 15 n.m (11 lb ft) combined with one bolt facing the outside that needs 10 n.m (86 lb in) torque. Reposition the battery first followed by the liquid line attachment to the strut tower and complete its installation by tightening the strut tower nut to 9 n.m (80 lb in). Add the harness to the liquid line and vent hose retainers while replacing the surge tank followed by the washer bottle and the left headlamp. The a/c system requires charging followed by testing the targeted a/c joints for leaks through the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
