- Q: How to replace the A/C Hose for the evaporator outlet on 2006 Chevrolet Equinox?A: First, recover the refrigerant to change the evaporator outlet hose. Through the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A), check for leaks after finishing the installation. Start by taking out the evaporator outlet hose nut off the evaporator outlet hose and then detach the evaporator outlet hose from the compressor hose. Then, take off the evaporator outlet hose and liquid line retainer plate nut, but take out the evaporator outlet hose and liquid retainer plate. Lastly, take out the evaporator outlet hose from the vehicle and dispose of the sealing washers at the evaporator outlet hose and at the compressor hose. Attach protective caps on the TXV, liquid line, and compressor hose to avoid contamination. In the process of installation, remove the protective caps and then install new sealing washers on the lines for the evaporator outlet hose, liquid line, and compressor hose. Secure nut at the evaporator outlet hose and liquid line to the TXV, sealing at 16 N.m (12 lb ft). Then take the evaporator outlet hose and connect it to the compressor hose and tighten the evaporator outlet hose nut to 22 N.m (16 lb ft). Lastly, charge the A/C system and test the injured A/C joints with leaks by utilizing the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A).
