2006 Chevrolet Equinox Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser on 2006 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: The first step to replace the condenser requires the recovery of refrigerant. When beginning the condenser replacement you should remove both the front fascia and Hood Latch on pontiac models. The next step involves removing the battery box air duct combined with the condenser Radiator fan module closeout panel. After disconnecting the liquid line nut you must uninstall the condenser liquid line while putting on protective caps to stop contamination of the desiccant material. Start by removing the compressor hose nut from the condenser and take out the compressor hose along with putting on a protective cap to the compressor hose. You should first remove crfm bracket bolts that are attached to the Radiator support along with crfm brackets from the entire vehicle. Begin by disconnecting all condenser Radiator attachment bolts then remove the condenser unit. During installation add pag oil according to specification into the condenser before checking that Radiator and condenser seals are properly aligned. Screw the condenser into place at the lower retention clips of the Radiator before tightening bolts to 9 n.m (80 lb in). Reinstall the crfm brackets to the Radiator support with their bolts while maintaining a 10 n.m (89 lb in) torque. Stick the compressor hose nut to 22 n.m (16 lb ft) so it secures the compressor hose to the condenser following the washer installation. After placing a new liquid line seal washer on the condenser you should connect the line then tighten the nut with 22 n.m of torque (16 lb ft). Follow the closeout panel and battery box air duct installation then replace the Hood Latch assembly (Pontiac only) before fitting the front fascia. As the final step the a/c system requires evacuating to prepare for charging then the a/c joints must undergo leak testing with the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
