2007 Chevrolet Equinox A/C Condenser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser on 2007 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: Start by recovering the refrigerant through use of the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) before replacing the condenser. Start by removing the front fascia followed by removing the Hood Latch for vehicles with pontiac badges. The first step involves removing two components: the battery box air duct alongside the condenser Radiator fan module (CRFM) closeout panel. After detaching the liquid line nut and liquid line from the condenser workers must apply a protective cap to the liquid line to stop contamination. Remove the compressor hose nut and compressor hose from the condenser before installing protective caps to protect both components from contamination. Extract crfm bracket bolts from Radiator support brackets then remove the crfm brackets. First remove the bolts which connect the condenser top to the Radiator before taking out the condenser from the vehicle. During installation add pag oil at a specific volume to the condenser then make sure Radiator-to-condenser seals are correctly positioned. Place the condenser onto the Radiator's lower retention clips before fastening it with bolts tightened to 9 n.m (80 lb in). Secure the Radiator support's crfm brackets with their bolts at 20 n.m (15 lb ft). After removing the protective compressor hose cap you should put on a new sealing washer before connecting the hose to the condenser by tightening the nut to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). A new seal washer should be installed on the liquid line before attaching it to the condenser which requires a nut tightened to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Conclude installation with the crfm closeout panel followed by the battery box air duct then Hood Latch assembly for pontiac units and finishing with the front fascia. Use an a/c system vacuum and charging process to analyze a/c joints using a halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
