2007 Chevrolet Equinox Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator on 2007 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: The first step to replace the A/C accumulator involves refrigerant recovery by using the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A). First remove the front bumper fascia then take out the mounting clamp bolt and detach the A/C accumulator mounting clamp from the condenser before removing the clamp. The installation begins with removing the lower A/C accumulator bolt fastened to the condenser after which the A/C accumulator can be extracted. The condenser needs protective caps as a preventive measure against contamination and desiccant saturation. Installation requires that you first remove protective caps before you add the predetermined amount of polyalkylene glycol (PAG) oil to the A/C accumulator and replace all O-rings. Before installation of the A/C accumulator onto the condenser ensure correct positioning of the lower A/C accumulator bolt which needs to be tightened at 6.5 N.m (58 lb in). Next install the A/C accumulator mounting clamp along with its bolt then tighten the bolt to 4.2 N.m (37 lb in). The end procedure includes installing the front bumper fascia as well as evacuating and charging the A/C system and using the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A) for testing affected A/C joints for leaks.
