- Q: How to replace the evaporator core on 2007 Chevrolet Equinox?A: Replacing the Evaporator core starts by unmounting the hvac module together with the Evaporator case assembly. Begin by removing the thermal expansion valve (TXV) bolts from the backing plate before taking out the txv along with the backing plate from Evaporator pipes and then dislodging seal washers from Evaporator pipes. The repair requires separation of the hvac module front of dash seal and unscrewing the two halves of the blower case assembly before extracting the Evaporator core. When installing the Evaporator core users need to put in the right amount of pag oil then they should verify the seal placement and its retention to be proper. Put the Evaporator core into the blower case assembly then reconnect its two halves while screwing the blower case assembly screws to 1.5 n.m torque (13 lb in). Install the hvac front of dash seal while proceeding to apply new seal washers to Evaporator pipes. Secure the backing plate to the Evaporator pipes by screwing in the txv at 3.5 n.m (31 lb in). As the last step install both the Evaporator case assembly and hvac module.
