2007 Chevrolet Equinox A/C Hose Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Hose liquid line in the HVAC system on 2007 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: The replacement process for hvac system liquid lines requires you to recover refrigerant using halogen leak detector (J 39400-A). Start by removing the left headlamp and then take off the surge tank followed by the washer bottle and the battery together with the battery box bolts from the battery box. Remove the negative cable wheelhouse nut before taking off the strut tower liquid line retaining nut. The first step of liquid line replacement involves detaching both harness and vent hose retainers that secure the liquid line before loosening the evaporator outlet hose and liquid line retainer plate nut from the thermal expansion valve (TXV). The evaporator outlet hose and liquid line must be removed from the txv after removing the liquid line nut from the condenser. After which, the liquid line must also be dismounted. Start by removing the body-mounting line bolt then place the battery box inboard of the vehicle before routing the line above both parts. Remove the liquid line from the vehicle by lifting up its rear section and discard the existing washer. Protective caps need installation to prevent contamination across the condenser, evaporator outlet hose and txv. A technician should install the liquid line by routing it underneath both the battery box and ground lug before reconnecting and tightening the negative battery cable nut to 12 n.m (106 lb in). Before continuing install a new sealing washer to the liquid line then position the condenser end at the correct spot on the line. Install the liquid line to the condenser by holding the fitting with large pliers then tighten the nut to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Apply a bolt to secure the liquid line on the body while tightening it to 9 n.m (80 lb in). After removing protective caps from txv and both the liquid line and evaporator outlet hose install new seal washers to these lines. Reduce evaporator outlet hose and liquid line to the txv using the retainer plate nut which must be secured with a torque of 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Reinstall the four battery box bolts with 15 n.m (11 lb ft) torque value while the battery box bolt to the outside requires a torque of 10 n.m (86 lb in). Put the battery back in its place along with the liquid line fitment to the strut tower; tighten the line nut to the strut tower at 9 n.m (80 lb in). Secure the liquid line harness along with its vent hose retainers before reinstalling the surge tank jointed to the washer bottle and left headlamp assembly. After recharging conclude the testing procedure with the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) to examine a/c joint leakages.
