2007 Chevrolet Equinox Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Expansion Valve on 2007 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: Start by recovering refrigerant through the use of Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A). Clean working space and utilizing new tools will stop debris from contaminating the sealing surfaces. The TXV seal area requires cleansing before maintenance while all components need to stay clean through the use of non-petroleum solvents and lint-free cloths as wiping tools. Start by taking off the evaporator outlet hose and liquid line retainer plate nut from the TXV before proceeding to dissect the evaporator outlet hose and liquid line. Place protective caps to the openings of both evaporator outlet hose and liquid line to prevent unwanted substances from entering. The process continues when you extracted the TXV and backing plate from the vehicle while discarding the seal washers from the evaporator pipes and applying protective caps to both pipes. Installation requires users to eliminate evaporator pipe protective caps after checking the seal areas are clean, free of dryness and lint. Users should then install new seal washers. Place a TXV along with its backing plate on the evaporator pipes and fix the TXV bolts within the backing plate before tightening them to 3.5 N.m (31 lb in). Reinstall new seal washers before attaching the TXV to the liquid line and evaporator outlet hose that has had its protective caps removed. Install the retainer plate nut of the liquid line and evaporator outlet hose to the TXV while applying torque to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Evacuate and charge the A/C system and use Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A) to test for all leaks in the A/C system.
