When removing the TXV components you should disconnect the evaporator outlet hose and liquid line retainer plate nut while avoiding the entry of foreign material into the sealing area. You should clean the TXV seal region as well as your tools using non-oil solvents but you must wipe components with lint-free materials while stopping solvent from entering evaporator ventiles or tubes.
