  A: To change the Water Pump on a 4.3l engine, collect the tools which are needed. Fan clutch remover and installer (J 41240). Start by detaching the air cleaner assembly and air cleaner outlet resonator duct and after that let the liquid out from the cooling system. Then, take off the cooling fan and the Drive Belt. Then repose the radiator outlet hose clamps at the surge tank and Water Pump, then take out the radiator outlet hose from the surge tank and the Water Pump. Reposition the Water Pump inlet hoses clamps, and take out the inlet hose. Make sure that the hose clamp tangs at the Water Pump end point ahead and the upper tang will be at the outside diameter of the Water Pump inlet hose, then install the inlet hose and align the clamps. Reconnect the radiator outlet hose to the Water Pump and the surge tank, moving the clamps wherever needed. Lastly, install the Drive Belt, cooling fan, air cleaner outlet resonator duct, and air cleaner assembly and fill the cooling system and inspect for leaks.
