For 4.8l, 5.3l, and 6.0l engine Water Pump replacement start with draining the cooling system. Then take off the air cleaner assembly,
Fan Clutch, and accessory
Drive Belt. Adjust the inlet hose clamp in position before removing the hose. Then modify the outlet hose clamp and take out the outlet hose. After moving the heater inlet clamp you should disconnect the heater inlet hose. Unbolt the Water Pump and take out the components including both gaskets. Throw away the old gaskets. Before adding new gaskets install the Water Pump only when you see a clean gasket area. Start by putting Water Pump bolts in position and turn them to 15 n.m (11 lb ft) initially and later tighten them to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). Put back the heater inlet hose by tightening its clamp then set the outlet hose and its clamp before placing the inlet hose and its clamp. Installation ends when you install the accessory Drive Belt, fan blade and clutch parts as well as the air cleaner and top off the cooling system.
