• Q: How to replace the vacuum brake booster on a 3.8L engine on 2005 Chevrolet Impala?

  A: Before replacing the vacuum Brake Booster on a 3.8l engine, make sure you have gathered everything you need: power Brake Booster holder (J 22805-B). Turn off the battery's negative cable and take out the insulator from the left side of the instrument panel. After that, disconnect the stop lamp switch wire and pull off the retaining clip so you can remove the Brake Booster pushrod from the Brake Pedal. Remove both the cross vehicle brace and the fuel injector sight shield before you separate the brake fluid level sensor electrical connector. Make sure not to detach the brake pipes from the master cylinder and brake pressure modulator valve. Alternatively, you should remove both master cylinder bolts and put the master cylinder to the side. Remove the vacuum Brake Booster check valve and keep the vacuum hose and the check valve attached. Take the power Brake Booster holder (J 22805-B) off from the mounted booster, then put the transmission fluid filler tube bracket retainer in place and realign the filler tube. Put the EGR Valve and the wiring harness heat shield for the EGR Valve into place, and make sure to tighten the nut and bolt to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Bring the engine back to its original place and secure both left and right engine mount struts.
