Chevrolet Impala Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the vacuum brake booster on Chevrolet Impala?
A: Examine if the cruise control cable lies between the booster and cowl before replacement since contact could hurt the system. Replace the booster mounting plate locking flanges when they show sign of bending or destruction. When replacing the fuel injector sight shield you first need to remove it on the 3.8 liter engine model. Take out the brake modulator and master cylinder when the vehicle comes with abs. Unfasten both the transmission fluid filler tube and egr heat shield. Hold the Brake Pedal still to defend against switch harm while untethering the Pushrod from the Brake Pedal. Unplug both pieces including the Brake Pedal Pushrod and vacuum hose from the Brake Booster valve at its end. Secure the power Brake Booster holder (J 22805-01) to the booster by fastening it with the master cylinder nuts until they reach 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Use the flat bladed tool to release the booster locking tab while turning the booster counterclockwise using a wrench attached to the power Brake Booster holder (J 22805-01). Take out the booster without breaking the insulator boot. Fit the power Brake Booster holder (J 22805-01) to the booster by screwing it on using the master cylinder nuts. Then turn them until torque reaches 25 nm and 18 ft. Lbs. Press the Pushrod eye gently through the hole keeping the insulator boot safe and install the booster onto the cowl by turning it counterclockwise to lock the flanges. Push the booster clockwise using the wrench until the locking tab clicks in the power Brake Booster holder (J 22805-01). Attach the Brake Booster Pushrod to its fitting on the Brake Pedal and connect the vacuum hose to the check valve of the booster. Reattach the transmission fluid cap and egr heat shield before placing back the brake modulator if you use abs and the master cylinder. In the end reinstall only the fuel injector sight shield for 3.8 liter engines.
