2010 Chevrolet Impala Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Power Vacuum Brake Booster for the 3.5L or 3.9L engine on 2010 Chevrolet Impala?
A: You must eliminate the intake manifold cover and the air cleaner outlet duct to switch the power vacuum Brake Booster on 3.5l or 3.9l engines. Before handling the Throttle Body remove its associated heater pipe even though you will not need to drain coolant or disconnect heater hoses. Steer clear of all electrical connections for the brake fluid level switch, vacuum power Brake Booster check valve and hose assembly as well as vacuum power Brake Booster vacuum sensor. Position the Brake Master Cylinder horizontally with heavy wire without disconnecting brake pipes from the threaded base. Put a shop cloth on the inboard stud of the vacuum power Brake Booster before you install the j-22805-b (Brake Booster Holder) to the opposite stud and fasten it using a master cylinder nut. Push the power vacuum Brake Booster stud from the inside to release its locking tab and turn the j-22805-b counterclockwise. Unclip then loosen the power vacuum Brake Booster pushrod retaining clip to detach its connection with the booster pushrod. To install the booster position it in place and then attach its power rod to the pushrod while pressing the retaining clip into its release spot. Apply the locking tab firmly onto the vacuum Brake Booster as you turn j-22805-b clockwise until the tab fits fully into the mounting plate surface. Install the master cylinder onto the vacuum power Brake Booster using new master cylinder nuts that require 33 nm (24 lb ft) torque values. Join the vacuum check valve assembly along with the hoses to the vacuum power Brake Booster and hook up its electrical connectors. Also attach the brake fluid level switch connector to its socket. Reassemble the heater tube by placing it on the Throttle Body, air outlet duct, and intake cover.
