2010 Chevrolet Impala Brake Pad Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear disc brake pads on 2010 Chevrolet Impala?
A: Before starting the rear disc Brake Pad replacement check the brake master cylinder reservoir for fluid. Drain off fluid when the fluid mark reaches halfway between the maximum and minimum levels when refilling you should aim for this position. Lift your vehicle and take off the rear tire and wheel setup. Firmly attach a hand-tightened lug nut onto the rotor hub while an adjustable c-clamp pushes the brake Piston to create space. Keep the brake caliper stable with strong mechanic wire to safeguard the brake hose during the process of gently removing the upper caliper bolt. Lower the caliper behind the pads to reach and remove them directly without detaching the caliper. Also take out the 2 clips that secure the pads to the caliper bracket. Check if caliper mounting hardware has damage before replacing faulty parts and examine dust boot for deterioration. Replace bolts if you find damage or corrosion during your investigation of caliper bolts. Set the Piston down into the caliper bore with a c-clamp while protecting it with Brake Pad or wood pieces. Pressure the retainers onto the caliper bracket so the Brake Pad wear sensor fits properly on the outer pad surface. Center the caliper bracket on its pads before elevating the caliper up over them. Apply silicone grease to the upper caliper bolt and boot before attaching and tightening the bolt to 44 nm (32 lb ft). Put the rotor nut back on and attach the back tire and wheel set while keeping previously marked parts straightened. Lower the car down safely. Press the Brake Pedal less than two-thirds of its travel and let it settle slowly. Apply light pressure to the Brake Pedal multiple times for 15 seconds each round until you achieve a proper seal of brake caliper pistons with pads. Complete your task by adding fluid to the brake tank and gently braking to seat new brake parts.
