2010 Chevrolet Impala Brake Line Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake line on 2010 Chevrolet Impala?
A: The first step to replace the rear brake hose requires securely supporting your vehicle while it is raised. Begin by removing the rear wheel assembly and wheel tire followed by complete cleaning of foreign materials and debris from the brake hoses and brake pipe fitting. The exposed brake pipe fitting requires a rubber cap or plug to stop brake fluid loss and contamination. The brake pipe fitting disconnects from the brake hose when using a back up wrench on its fitting and the new pipe end requires a cap or plug installation with no bending of the pipe or bracket. The brake hose retaining clip should be detached from its position on the hose mounting bracket before you take out the hose from the bracket. Next disconnect the brake hose to caliper bolt from the brake caliper while detaching the brake hose from the caliper. Trash the two stuck copper brake hose gaskets which remain on the brake caliper or brake hose end. You must employ new copper brake hose gaskets for installation before building them together with the brake hose bolt to the brake hose. Fasten the brake hose to caliper bolt onto its position on the brake caliper by tightening it to 54 nm (40 lb ft). When the suspension bears vehicle weight install the brake hose into the bracket while checking for kinks and matching the fitting with notch alignment by following the hose paint stripe guide. Apply the retainer to the hose fitting at the bracket while taking away the rubber cap or plug from the brake pipe fitting end. Connect the brake pipe fitting to the brake hose through a back up wrench while avoiding bracket and pipe bending until reaching a torque setting of 18 nm (13 lb ft). Place the rear tire and wheel assembly back onto the vehicle while making sure the hose stays clear of all suspension components. You need to remove the hose while correcting the issue that allows it to contact other parts. Bleed the hydraulic brake system before lowering the vehicle.
