2009 Chevrolet Impala Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake line on 2009 Chevrolet Impala?
A: Before working on the brake hose replacement start by properly raising and securing the vehicle. Clean all dirt and foreign material from brake hoses and pipe fitting before taking out the assembly from its rear position. Put on a rubber seal to cover the brake pipe fitting to stop brake fluid draining and invasion. When detaching the brake hose from the brake pipe use a back up tool while disconnecting the fitting and safely seal the end of the pipe by plugging or capping it. Also avoid deforming the brake pipe and bracket. Pull the brake hose retaining clip off its mounting bracket and take out the hose from the bracket. Pull out the brake caliper bolt from the brake caliper while also detaching the brake caliper from the metal line. Throw away the two discarded copper brake hose gaskets that might remain on either part. Fit the brake hose parts together by placing copper brake hose gaskets and brake hose bolt on the hose. Thread the brake hose to caliper bolt at the brake caliper and fasten it to 54 nm (40 lb ft). Use suspension weight to insert the brake hose into the bracket and position it correctly according to the hose painting line. Ensure the hose remains straight. Set the retainer onto the hose opening at the bracket position and take off the rubber cap from the brake pipe fitting end. Fixed both ends of the Brake Line through the back up wrench without damaging parts and torqued the pipe fitting to 18 nm (13 lb ft). Install the wheel assembly without breaking contact between the hose and suspension parts. If needed to fix this, you must detach and resolve the issue first. After completing the task lower the vehicle and bleed the hydraulic brake system.
