2008 Chevrolet Impala Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front brake line on 2008 Chevrolet Impala?
A: To fix the front brake hose you need to lift and stabilize the car then take out the front tire and wheel. Use rubber plugs or caps on the brake pipe fitting to stop brake fluid from escaping or getting dirty and remove all foreign objects from the brake hose and pipe fittings. Hold the hose fitting tightly with a back up wrench and remove the brake pipe fitting from the brake hose. Cap or plug the brake pipe end to avoid damage while keeping the pipe and bracket at their original positions. Remove the brake hose retaining clip from the hose bracket for access to the mounting bracket. Pull out the brake hose from the bracket. You must take off the brake hose bolt from the brake caliper and then disconnect the brake hose from the caliper. Sever both brake hose gaskets from copper that adhers to brake caliper and hose ends. Debate the new copper brake hose gaskets and brake hose bolt onto brake hose before installing them into the brake caliper and fastening them at 54 n.m (40 lb ft). With the vehicle on its suspension use the brake hose paint stripe to position and push the hose through the bracket. Keep the hose free from kinks during the installation. Put the retainer into place on the hose end at the bracket before taking off the rubber plug or cap from the open brake pipe connection. Using a back up wrench on the hose fitting, join the brake pipe to the brake hose without bending the bracket and pipe. Secure the brake pipe fitting at 18 n.m (13 lb ft). Put back the front tire and wheel but check the hose stays clear of the suspension system at both extreme steering angles; fix the faulty position if the hose touches any part. Shift to the hydraulic brake mode then take fluid out before placing the car on a lower position.
