2008 Chevrolet Impala Brake Line Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake line on 2008 Chevrolet Impala?
A: Start by securing the vehicle before you proceed with the replacement of the rear brake hose. Begin by removing the rear tire followed by cleaning the brake hoses and brake pipe fitting from all foreign materials and dirt residue. Secure the brake pipe fitting from contamination by applying a rubber cap or plug that covers the exposed end. Connect a back up wrench to disconnect the brake pipe from the brake hose while keeping the brake pipe end covered with a fitting cap or plug. Do not bend either the brake pipe or bracket while performing the procedures. Accessory the hose mounting bracket clip to take the hose out. Unfasten the brake hose to caliper bolt from the brake caliper then disconnect the brake hose from the caliper before disposal of two copper brake hose gaskets that might be attached to either the caliper or brake hose end. When installing position new copper brake hose gaskets and brake hose bolt onto the brake hose , tightly fasten the brake hose to caliper bolt at 54 n.m (40 lb ft) onto the brake caliper. Hang the vehicle from the suspension to guide the brake hose insertion without formation of wrinkles while lining up the fitting notch using the hose paint stripe markings. The installer should position the retainer onto the hose fitting at the bracket before removing the rubber cap or plug exposing the brake pipe fitting end. Use a back up wrench on the brake hose fitting while connecting it to the brake pipe fitting and maintain straight alignment of the bracket and pipe during tightening to 18 n.m (13 lb ft). Before reinstalling the tire and wheel assembly check that the hose remains safely distant from all suspension components. Take out the hose and fix the problem if any hose contact occurs. Lower the vehicle after finishing the bleed process of the hydraulic brake system.
