2005 Chevrolet Impala Door Handle Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the rear outside door handle on 2005 Chevrolet Impala?
A: The process of swapping the outside rear handle starts by removing first the rear door trim panel followed by the rear door water deflector. Break off the clip connecting the outside handle rod before throwing out the rod-to-lock clip component. The procedure starts with removing both the rear door outside door handle bolt access plug along with the three bolts that secure the outside door handle. Carefully remove the rear door outside door handle and its handle rod separately before disconnecting the rod from the door handle. Automobile technicians should position the rear door outside door handle as well as rod onto the rear door completely following instructions in the Service Precautions Fastener Notice. Screw and tighten three bolts which secure the door handle until they reach 10 N.m (89 lb in), before putting back the bolt access plug. Position the new outside handle rod-to-lock clip on the door lock lever with the outside door handle rod properly situated inside. This will prevent any forms of loose movement. Finish the process by inserting the clip cover onto the threaded outside door handle rod followed by the reinstallation of the rear door water deflector and the rear door trim panel.
