2005 Chevrolet Malibu Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the brake master cylinder on 2005 Chevrolet Malibu?
A: Start Brake Master Cylinder replacement by taking the vacuum check valve off from the booster grommet without disconnecting its vacuum brake hose. Release the Brake Fluid Level Sensor electrical connector and remove the brake pipes from the master cylinder. Plug the exposed fitting ends with rubber caps to stop fluid leaks and prevent contamination. Extract the master cylinder unit while inspecting its seal with the Brake Booster and replace it if it shows signs of damage. When reusing the reservoir take it off the master cylinder. Put the Brake Master Cylinder reservoir back on the master cylinder after removal then remove air from fluid lines through a process called bench bleeding before checking if the cylinder seal aligns to the Brake Booster. Mount the master cylinder on top of the vacuum Brake Booster then fasten it with both mounting nuts while applying 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) torque. Plug the brake pipes then connect them to the master cylinder while tightening the fittings to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). Join the Brake Fluid Level Sensor and vacuum booster check valve connector to their grommet position on the vacuum Brake Booster and complete hydraulic brake system bleeding.
