    A: Before disconnecting the Steering Column and intermediate shaft position the Steering Column lever to lock (FULL UP) and keep the vehicle's wheels pointed straight ahead to safeguard the sir coil assembly from damage. Raise the vehicle for support and remove its left front tire first. Release the intermediate shaft to steering gear pinch bolt (throw the bolt away) and free the intermediate shaft from the steering gear. Lower your test vehicle then remove the intermediate shaft bolt at the Steering Column shaft while discarding the hardware. Pull the intermediate shaft clear of the Steering Column shaft before easily removing the intermediate shaft seal from the dash by individually pressing each of its four tabs toward the vehicle's interior. When installing the new intermediate shaft, feed it through the dash front and check that all tabs have proper alignment before sealing the unit. Traction the seal into its total position by applying pressure from inside the vehicle. Put the new intermediate shaft in position with the Steering Column shaft afterward install and tighten the new Steering Column pinch bolt to 49 nm (36 ft. Lbs.). After connecting the intermediate shaft to the steering gear shaft position the new pinch bolt and tighten it to 49 nm (36 ft. Lbs.). To complete the repair reinstall the left front wheel.
