2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Brake Line Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the front brake line on 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
A: Start by lifting and securing the vehicle before taking off the wheel and tire from the front. Put a rubber closure on the brake pipe fitting while cleaning built-up dirt from both brake lines and fitting ends. Secure a back up wrench onto the hose fitting to disconnect the brake pipe from the brake hose while staying away from bending the brake pipe or bracket. Take off the hose retaining clip from its bracket and pull the brake hose out of the bracket mounts. Separate the bolt holding brake hose and brake caliper before detaching brake hose from the caliper. Remove the stuck brake hose gaskets since they will not work with the new pipe. Install fresh copper brake hose gaskets onto the brake hose and fasten them with the brake hose bolt. Use 40 ft. Lbs (54 Nm) to fix the brake hose to caliper bolt onto the brake caliper assembly. Place the brake hose inside the bracket while the vehicle rests on its suspension, keep the pipe straight to its destination and guide the hose using the paint strip. Secure the retainer over the hose fitting at its bracket location and take out the rubber cover from the brake pipe connection. Use a back up wrench to link the brake pipe with brake hose while avoiding any bends to the bracket and pipe. Then tighten the connection to 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.). Replace the front tire and wheel properly and watch how the brake hose touches suspension parts at extreme turns; resolve the problem the hose contacts any suspension parts during extreme turns; if it does, correct the issue. The last step is to release trapped pressure from the brake system and put the vehicle down.
