2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Power Steering Reservoir Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Power Steering Reservoir on 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
A: Place the hydraulic pump with its shaft elevated on a flat fixed location as the first step for reservoir replacement. You should use a screwdriver to activate the retaining clip tab while pulling the reservoir clip backward away from the hydraulic pump assembly. Remove the second reservoir clip through this sequence and afterward extract the reservoir from the hydraulic pump housing. The O-ring seal that protects the reservoir neck must be extracted from the opening either of the reservoir or hydraulic pump housing. Drip power steering fluid onto the neck of the reservoir before placing the new O-ring seal on its opening. Insert the reservoir onto the hydraulic pump assembly while making sure that the reservoir neck undergoes complete entry. Secure the reservoir feet along the sides of the hydraulic pump housing before attaching the new retention clips provided with the pump unit. The retaining clip tabs should match the hydraulic pump housing perfectly.
