2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Ignition Coil Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the ignition coil on 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
A: Begin by taking out the air cleaner outlet resonator after which cut the Ignition Coil wire free from the Ignition Coil and Distributor Cap. You need to separate both electrical connectors of the Ignition Coil together with the Ignition Coil driver. Move the throttle lever's accelerator cable slug and cruise control cable while following it with the engine bracket's accelerator and cruise control cables. Begin by removing the bracket's nuts that hold the accelerator control cable while pulling out the cable-tethered bracket from the Throttle Body for later securement aside. Start by removing the clip holding the accelerator cable in place then the stud and bracket of the cable assembly before moving onto the Ignition Coil's bracket studs along with the bracket and coil itself. Firmly disconnect the Ignition Coil bolts/nuts and extract the Ignition Coil off its brackets. Secure the brackets to both sides of the Ignition Coil and check the bolt torque reaches 3.5 n.m (31 lb in) with close attention to proper arm length. First secure the Ignition Coil bracket to its location before tightening all Ignition Coil bracket studs to 11 n.m (97 lb in). Place the bracket and cables when you achieve 12 n.m of tightness (106 lb in) for the accelerator cable nuts and stud. Lay in the accelerator control cable bracket while connecting Throttle Body cables and tighten its nuts to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Proceed by attaching first the engine bracket cables then linking the cruise control cable to the throttle lever before connecting the accelerator cable slug to the throttle lever. Before continuing reattach the electrical connectors for the Ignition Coil and Ignition Coil driver then connect the Ignition Coil wire to the Ignition Coil and Distributor Cap placing the coil wire nipple between 35 and 60 degrees aft of perpendicular to the engine centerline on the outboard side of the coil. Install the air cleaner outlet resonator as the last step.
