2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake caliper bracket on 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer?
A: The first step for replacing the rear Brake Caliper Bracket involves lifting the vehicle with its tire and wheel distributed off. Use heavy mechanic's wire or an equivalent to support any separated Brake Calipers when their mount acts as the connection point for hydraulic flexible brake hoses to minimize potential damage and fluid leaks. The brake caliper assembly needs to be taken off its mount and moved to the side for pad examination and front Brake Pad removal from the mounting bracket. The mechanical devices for brakes need inspection followed by the removal of pad-retaining clips from the mounting bracket. Begin the guide by taking out the brake caliper mounting bracket retaining bolts followed by dismantling the bracket and extracting the guide pin seals from the bracket. Check the brake rotor state before applying new guide pin seals onto the mounting bracket. The guide pins and Brake Pad retaining clips should receive cleaning with denatured alcohol followed by drying using non-lubricated filtered air. Silicone brake lubricant should be applied to the guide pins of the brake caliper but should not be applied to the Brake Pad retaining clips. Reroute the brake caliper mounting bracket along with its bolts while torquing them to 200 nm (148 ft. Lbs.). The brake pads and their hardware need to be mounted onto the bracket before pad installation. Put back the rear brake caliper assembly after placing the tire and wheel assembly back on and lowering the vehicle. Again apply a gentle and controlled force with the brake pedal to allow brake pads to fully engage into position.
